Mark Howe
"DaFunkmaster"
Mark Howe, better known as "DaFunkmaster," is a bass player. An exceptional bassist, Mark has perfected the groove in various genres, focusing on Blues, Soul, and Funk. He was part of the Jeff Healey Band in the mid-80s and headed his band, Spectrum, until 2020, after which he joined GARNETTA CROMWELL & DaGROOVMASTERS as a full-time bassist.
Robin Houston
Drummer
Robin Houston was born in a quaint Northern Ontario town. His mother, a musician, often played the piano, which inspired him to embrace drumming. At the age of eight, Robin received his first drum kit. He played with local bands, frequently stepping in as a substitute when needed. In 1980, Robin relocated to Southern Ontario, where drumming remained a hobby until he became a member of The Whiskey Chasers, a band based in the Hamilton, ON area. He played with them until he decided to join GARNETTA CROMWELL & DaGROOVMASTERS as their full-time drummer.
toshihiro Otani
Lead guitarist
Toshihiro Otani, also known as "Toshi," is the lead guitarist who was born and raised in Japan. He self-taught guitar playing from the age of 12 and became a part of Tokyo's Chicago-style blues scene. In 2013, he relocated to Canada.
Juan Arce
Saxophonist
Juan Arce is a Colombian-born saxophonist. He earned an honours degree in Fine Arts, with a specialization in jazz performance, from York University. Juan began his musical journey in 2003, working alongside his father from a young age. Over the years, he has cultivated a highly adaptable playing style, performing, recording, and touring with a variety of jazz, funk, and pop groups, as well as numerous Latin bands and salsa orchestras. Juan has participated in multiple projects with the Toronto-based band Shuffle Demons and has shared the stage with several renowned international Latin artists, such as Gabriel Romero, Luis Felipe Gonzales, and Armando Hernandez.
